You can design body in Solidworks or Catia, then import it to Abaqus for more analysis. Catia is recommanded for design a body.
solidworks has no comparison with any other software for cad modeling but as long as concern with FEA analysis its better to use abaqus or ANSYS.
abaqus is better than solidworks
For Composite body analysis and design Solid Works is better than abaqus.in SolidWorks you can draw 3d .
With Abaqus Unified FEA you can quickly and efficiently create, edit, monitor, diagnose, and visualize advanced Abaqus analyses. The intuitive interface integrates modeling, analysis, job management, and results visualization in a consistent, easy-to-use environment that is simple to learn for new users, yet highly productive for experienced users.
It is better to use abaquse for analysing a composite structure. You can define the properties of composite in abaqus in material section. Abaqus provides you with any analysis for composites such as buckling, modal test, thermoelastic,...
u can draw any solid work by using 3d autocad : use command extrude
If you mean any kind of FEM analysis, of course ABAQUS will get the job done.
SolidWorks is more used for mechanical design (away from structural desgin), so it's more like a drawing-simulation tool.
ANSYS:- Dedicated simulation software with wide variety of modules with multiple options. But difficult to model inside it’s environment
Abacus:- Best for the real time machining simulations.
i hope that help you
