Yes, the study of Behavior, Density, Grain Size, Liberation limit  and  susceptibility to classifying media like, Water, Air, Frothers, activators, de-activators, depressants, magnetic characteristics etc of the Mineral/Minerals subjected to processing play a vital role in efficiency of the beneficiation process. Knowing these things about a required mineral and associated rocks, we can make a set of3/4 parameters for maximum recovery with minimum cost keeping in view the quality and safety factor. To me, the most important characteristics of a mineral are the maximum liberation size, density or specific gravity, magnetic properties, solubility, recycling possibilities and waste generation and disposal.

Definately it will optimise the process, as the interlocking with other ore mineral and ore to gangue mineral and its optimum size of crushing tells about optimum cummutation, that paved path for well planned reagent preparation and smooth beneficiation for maximise mineral recovery with better concentrate grade output.
