The oil field activities are very critical to invironment if not controlled by HSE & people inthe field you should deal with oil carefully & you should report any near miss & control your plang for example oil spill & produce water & how can treat this water & you should minimize the PPM in the ponds to aviod the oil scape out in environment & will effect the human.
The answer is detailed and it has a lot of explainations in short; there are specific STANDARDS that are defined in ASME, ISO and other international bodies that need to be followed in every OIL FIELD. A mechanism has to be made to effectively manage and implement those standards.
Yes environmental issue are very high in oilfield related activities, all harms and threat to the environment can be minimized only by developing sense of responsibility to all team and party involved in the said activity. If a company knows its regulation and the employees working in the company are briefed and trained about their consciousness about environmental pollution then all can come up with a much cleaner and less polluted environment. In short, state, company and working bodies involved must be responsible and should bear no excuse while confronting any HSE issue.
Oil field water management is increasingly a critical factor with respect to environmental protection and profitability for both new and mature oil field developments. For new oil field developments the integration of water management with oil production planning is vital to avoid environmental damage and bottlenecks to production. For mature oil fields the harmonization of topsides and downhole water control is critical to extending their economic life and continued compliance with environmental regulations
