Benchmark testing in UX, is a practice to measure the website usability. It helps the UX researchers to list the problems and solutions to improve current state of site / app.

Following are the ideal steps for Benchmark testing

  1. Willing to improve
  2. Run diagnostics
  3. Identify problems with real site / app users
  4. Remove the middleman
  5. Collect data (Google form / Any website forms)
  6. Leverage current software / application
  7. Go thrifting
  8. Involve Community
  9. Go on trial
  10. Conclude
  11. Start Change

A benchmark is essentially the output of continuously testing an application or website over an extended period of time. This allows you to track the progress of your product as you iterate development. It can also be used to compare your product to a competitor’s product.

Benchmark testing is the process of load testing a component or an entire end to end IT system or UX research to determine the performance characteristics of the application. The benchmark test is repeatable in that the performance measurements captured will vary only a few percents each time the test is run.

For UX what we have done on the university with the real client it looked that we checked, how people use and think about application or software, or application, or start-up concept.

I personally prefer benchmarking task-based, because it lets you to check every aspect of UX in your project. You can use tools for manage eye-tracking, focus on content and so on.
