Thanks for the invitation :)

I would like to quote the answer from a great article, in this link.

First of all, we have to define Policy

QUOTE “A policy is a formal statement of a principle or rule that members of an organization must follow. Each policy addresses an issue important to organization's mission or operations.

Policies serve several important functions:

·      Communicate values and expectations for how things are done at your organization

·         Keep the organization in compliance with legislation and provide protection against employment claims

·         Document and implement best practices appropriate to the organization

·         Support consistent treatment of staff, fairness and transparency

·         Help management to make decisions that are consistent, uniform and predictable

Protect individuals and the organization from the pressures of expediency.

Organizations commonly have written policies in the following areas:

·         Code of Conduct

·         Confidentiality

·         Conflict of Interest

·         Working conditions

·         Attendance

·         Hours of Operations

·         Termination (Voluntary and Involuntary)

·         Recruitment

·         Compensation

·         Performance Management

·         Learning and development

·         Benefits and Eligibility

·         Overtime

·         Privacy

·         Employee Information

·         Bereavement Leave

·         Compassionate Leave

·         Vacation

·         Sick Leave, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability

·         Maternity, Parental, and Adoption Leave

·         Unpaid Leave

Most employees need to know there welfare at work which off course includes all the benefits they do expect. Because this not only detremine their level of attachment to the organisation but their willingness to work extra harder for the company development. It is therefore very important to start by drafting a clear wellfare policy. This would save the time that may be wasted in informing them about the code of conduct, working condition etc when they are un willing to work.

For Start up Companies: Policies with regards to working hours, days, location, salary, office- does & don’ts, others,  should be the first rules and regulations.

also Code of Conduct

·         Confidentiality

·         Conflict of Interest

·         Working conditions

·         Attendance

·         Hours of Operations

·         Termination (Voluntary and Involuntary)

·         Recruitment

·         Compensation

·         Performance Management

·         Learning and development

·         Benefits and Eligibility

·         Overtime

·         Privacy

·         Employee Information

·         Bereavement Leave

·         Compassionate Leave

·         Vacation

·         Sick Leave, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability

·         Maternity, Parental, and Adoption Leave

·         Unpaid Leave

·         Jury Duty

This would help start up companies to follow the guidelines so that functionality would run properly.

For established Companies: Need to identify what policies are already existing and how it could be improved for organisational growth. also depends on company to company environment that what should be the new policies to implement, accordingly new improved policies are implemented for the same.
