WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN I.F.C DRAWINGS AND THE SHOP DRAWINGS ?

Issued for Construction drawings are sets of detailed design drawings prepared by the Design Consultant and are integral part of the Contract Documents.
Contractual issues arise between Tender Drawings and IFC Drawings, as the case maybe.
Shop Drawings are sets of drawings prepared by the Main Contractor and the relevant sub-contractors to be issued to the consultant for approval in adherence to the issued IFC drawings.
I believe that the remaining20% of the Design Development are being developed during the preparation of Shop Drawings...thru RFI, CVI, commented SD and so on.....

There are simpler and more comprehensive definition that the I.F.C drawings is " what exactly to do " but the shop drawings is " how to do it " o

IFC (Issued for construction) means that the drawings and specifications have been approved by the local governing agencies and that these are the plans by which the project will be constructed.

Shop drawing is a drawing or set of drawings produced by the contractor, supplier, manufacturer, subcontractor, or fabricator. Shop drawings are typically required for prefabricated components.

Shop Drawing: Shop drawings are detailed construction and fabrication drawings that show the proposed material, shape, size, and assembly of the parts and how the system/unit would be installed.

IFC Drawings: Issued for construction Drawings are issued officially by consultant to contractor as part of the contract document and they are the reference in generating shop drawings. 

IFC are drawins that are issued by the clients or its representatives for a project. It could be a general drawings that are analyzed by contractors to produce a more detailed shop drawings.

Shop drawings are detailed drawings which are derived from IFC drawings that contains the dimensions, size, shape or position based on the actual condition and location at site. These are submitted to the client for review and approval. Upon approval, construction will be started based on it.

Issued for construction drawings (IFC) is the final contract drawing issued by the client or the clients representative (Consultants). Work at site proceeds on the basis of IFC drawings. As and how the construction proceeds on site there could be possibility of changes (minor / major) coming to the project. Depending upon the situation, in order to incorporate these changes the consultants ask the contractor to submit the shop drawings. Upon approval these changes gets implemented on site as per the shop drawings. 

Shop drawings issued by the contractor refelects the plan and sequence / method of work implementation at site. These drawings are with minute details on it.

On the completion of the engineering design upto 100%, the drawings are issued to the contractor to startup the installations are known as  IFC drawings or IFC Package. Whereas, a shop drawing is the drawing made by the contractors engineering department and issued on site for the site supervisors and foremen to understand easily and implement on site installations.

1)The Drawings issued for Construction are based on the designed MEP,structural , Builder work and arch.drawings and not actual as built site .
2)There may be a change required which came after issuing ICS drawings.
3)Shop Drawings are Larger in size with labeling available relevant to the technicians and foremen on site in order to execute the work.
For Eg: Base Level of Duct, Inclination level of pipes etc.
4)These are issued prior to the execution of the work (for facilitation of execution) on site whereas IFC are issued at any time before that.

In short you can say IFC for what to do and Shop is for how to do.

I.F.C: 

issued for construction drawings, its a shop drawings after the final approval from the main contarctor. and its the drawings which coniderd as the reference for all the implementation team on the site

Shop Drawings: 

its a design drawings, and it will be changeaccording to the physical situation on the site , and also it will be change depend on the coordination between all the contractor type on the project
