first you need to get a job, then you need to implement the ISO9001/2008. If you have training in mathematics, mechanical engeneering, physics or chemistry you will do very well by your own, but others won't understand what you're doing and probably try to depreciate your work.

It would be better for you to wait a few months as the standard has been revised so it will be now ISO9001:2013 or ISO9001:2012. An offical cource which is IRCA-UK recognized Lead Auditor is available which will help you understand the standard and how to evaluate if it is implemented or not. But if you want to be an implementor then there are trainings like ISO9001 awareness or ISO9001 Implementation.

to be straight.... only an iso9001 lead auditor course is not enough.... Thorough understanding of the standard cannot be gained with out some experience and going deep in to the standard. So I will suggest that you should work in an ISO9001 certified company for atleast one year and understand the basics and practical side before going to the ISO lead auditor course. This will enhance your ability to grasp more in  ISO environment and you will succeed. As  Abdul Samad Waqar  said, it would be nice if you can wait for one more year to do the lead Auditor course as the ISO9001:2008 standard is getting revised to2015 version by the third quarter of2015 with three year transmission period

Implementing ISO9001:2008 enables continuous improvement of your organization’s quality management systems (QMS) and processes. In turn, this improves the ability of your operations to meet customer requirements and expectations.

Improving your organization’s Quality Management Systems can positively boost your profitability. Demonstrating real commitment to product and service quality can transform your corporate culture because, as a result, employees understand the requirement for ongoing improvement.

ISO9001:2008 is based on eight quality management principles:

  • Customer focus
  • Leadership
  • Involvement of people
  • Process approach
  • System approach
  • Continual improvement
  • Fact-based decision making, and
  • Mutually beneficial supplier relationships

Quality Management System certification from SGS will help your organization develop and improve performance. ISO9001:2008 certification enables you to demonstrate high levels of service quality when bidding for contracts and a valid ISO9001:2008 certificate shows that your organization follows internationally recognized quality management principles.

It depends on what you are aspiring to be. It would be ideal to start off in a junior quality role in an ISO9001 accredited organization and work your way up as you will learn and gain some experience. After that it all depends on your ambitions and what career you want to pursue.
