Advertising takes place at a distance. Marketing is the broad umbrella under which sales Operate. Together, advertising and marketing lay the groundwork to warm up the lead and prepare them for the close of the sale.
Whatever we sell, techincally its a solution to consumer problem. If you have a best product sitting in the warehouse, you may will never be able to sell.
Marketing lets you understand and design the framework to sell that product, further to that adverstising is the tool to market your product and sales is the end result and your final objective.
The traditional conceptual relationship between Advertising, Marketing & Sales for any Brand was the sequential theory of creating 'awareness' through advertising & establishing 'preference' through Marketing in the consumer's mind resulting in actionable transaction of the Consumer purchsing the Brand resulting in its sales.
However in the current Data Analytics driven Business world, it is proactively generating information from actual sales transaction data leading to focussed Marketing & Advertising targeting potential consumers driving sales. This is like 'target shooting' instead of random firing as was the case earlier.
