Hi Ms. Ali Hassan,

This is a good question and a tricky one. I think it all depends on the organization you serve and the organization's policies and procedures. The employee must complete at least 1 year including his/her probationary period.

Probationary period might vary from 3months to 6months and by the time employee completes probation period the line manager would provide feedback on how the employees performances would be and based on that you can either extend his probation or make him/her permanent staff and have a one to one and explain that the employee has to now start performing with his peers and be competent enough to be assessed, because if you start assessing from the day one it would be unfair for employee who would get assessed and the peers who are already there with the organization from more than a year.

Hope you have got the necessary information.

Regards

Pramod
