There were some factors to consider in Plant layout and these are the some major concern to consider
*Policies of Management
*Plant Location
*Nature of the Product
*Volume of the Production
* Availability of Floor Space
*Nature of Manufacturing Process
*Repair and Maintenanace of Equipment and
Machines.
(1) External Environmental Mapping (Impact of immisions on local communities, Exposure to immisions from other surrounding facilities, Exposure to the elements / climate, other environmental risks etc.)
(2a) Location (region, locality, Land, site or building) - proximity to suppliers and customers / market - road / rail / air / sea networks and facilities.
(2b) Shape, Layout - process flow - receiving, production, dispatching, future expansion etc.
(3) Plant and equipment requirements - now and future - automation / semi-automation / manual - opportunities to improve productivity
(4) Nature of the product - product range variables, associated storage requirements for both materials and finished goods, transportation, contamination risk, Product safety and legislative / best practice expectations etc.
(5) Utilities / facilities plant and equipment - location, servicing, maintenance, capacity now and future
(6) Economic considerations - Direct and Indirect internal costs (transportation, materials / finished product, cost to produce, plant and equipment etc.), local / governmental funding opportunities or economic risks etc.
(7) People related policies, procedures and services - demographics and recruitment capability, general access and exits for both site and departments, fire safety, team structures, HR, H&S / Product Safety, Env, QMS etc.
(8) Indirect Plant, buildings and facilities - Admin, laboratory / test facilities, maintenance workshops and spares, security, parking space, Emergency / first aid, canteen, washroom facilities etc.
Each can be broken down into immense detail!
The Main Consideration in Plant Layout are
1) Cost
2)Area
3)Transport Facility
4) Availabilty Of Raw Material
5)Atmosphere
6)Availabilty Of Water, etc
Develop the place
Make the team collaborator
organization of work
I do not accept that my place is traditionalI am trying to make the place distinctive
Location of the site influences the choice of a particular layout.
Climate : temperature and ventilation
Safety of employees
1. Admnistrative Policies
2. Locality
3. Nature of the product and services to be rendered
4. Capacity of production
5. Availability of space
Policies of management
Nature of the product
Wind Direction
Process requirements
Fire Hazrd
Process Flow
Degree of Automation or Human Interference
Complete Design Drawings and Calculation are required for review of plant lay out with BOQ as addad advantage.
