The best way to describe it is HomePNA instead of naming it HPNA (but most people do say HPNA) it stands for Home Phone line networking alliance, this technologies is support by some companies but not all?, to keep it short ? in your home there is a lot of electrical devices (TV set, Satellite, phone, fax) and using HomePNA you will be able to communicate with these devices thought same current available network , and it get much better when you have a smart phone as main controller (control home devices from portable devices thought Wi-Fi or other wireless connections)
