The mistakes i see in job application ,gaps in employment, education, career objectives, goals are not aligned with company's goals and objectives, for a particular role i am hiring a candidate.
Job application through agencies, most times employees were being scammed through the process
Resume should have different format for different category of experience candidates. It includes Freshers (0-1 year Exp), Start Career Level (2-4 years Exp), Mid Career Level (5-15 years Exp), Senior Level (16 years & Above). Resume should be maximum into 2 pages not more than this because as a Recruiter average time spent on one resume is 6 seconds as per study done.
There are couple things I have seen people making mistakes when they apply to any position by not considering following points-
1. No Clear career objective having 5 years (quantifiable) candidate goals.
2. No Key skills in bullets learned in previous jobs
3. No Quantifiable achievements in each organization worked.
4. Mentioning job description on resume, not providing clear date of joining & last day of work in the organization instead they just write year.
5. Education qualification without year of completion, grades, University etc
6. Writing to many irrelevant information on CV.
7. Irrelevant applications for any random position without having any skills set.
8. Providing false information on the resume like tenure of work, education etc
Mention the job responsibilities instead of achievements.
Mention the religion and marital status
The biggest Mistake is the JD is not some times matching as per the work requirements.
