I'm a fresh grad and I want to build my career in Marketing, Pure Marketing and I was offered a position in an advertising and marketing agency as an account manager, search for customers, try to convince them ti use our services and then do the basic account manager communication and stuff, which means there are some sales duties among my responsibility, is this position is the best way to start my career in Marketing? If not can you please inform me a little about that?
If you are only starting your career in marketing, you are in the right place starting in an agency - working in an agency will help you a lot when / if you move to the client side, and going from client to agency is not something I would recommend (I did that, and although the experience I gained working in the agency was priceless, I was just too old to be acct director in this day and age, so I speak from experience).
To make new business development part of your duties is not what accts usually do, especially so early in their career, but any experience you get now when you are young and stakes are not high is valuable - even if it serves for you to realize you are good or not so good at something.
To wrap up, yes, absolutely, give it a go, try everything, learn as much as you can and have fun!
