Netflix is a large company with a copyrighted trademark of its brand. So the simple answer is it’s not legal. One of the important things that you can make your client understand is that users do not appreciate duplication of the large platform by small service providers.

I’m not a specialist for legal advice but I think if there is a copyright case the blame goes to the business duplicating the product and not the developer individually. So if you are a developer or a business who is planning to launch a video streaming app I would surely suggest you get the app developed by a professional agency as they are well aware of the things that can be copied and things that can face a legal hurdle in developing an app like Netflix.

It is suggested to take legal advice from the expert and then carry out the development process to develop an app like Netflix.
