What if an employee was terminated due to gross misconduct? Can he/she refuse to sign a termination letter?

Employee is5 years &8 months in the company and terminated due to gross misconduct.

The employer does not need approval or negligence , In case of Termination due to material gross negligence by an employee.What is required is the substantiation to proof material gross negligence.
