Yeah could be the next trend in Information Technology. Only issue I have with Cloud computing is the security issue. How it is odd to have all your valuable information and data accessed and exposed to third party. It depends on how a firm wants to address their Confidentiality and integrity of information and data they have in their database.
YES, Definitely Cloud Trend has already started and people are going for it... Today I have attended a12c Database Launch, which concentrate very much on the security and most of the security and privacy is driven by policies and wallets. and pluggable databases and container databases is going to be next generation database systems.. and coming to how to plan the consolidation, you can do that via OEM12c, there is an option called Consolidation Planner which gives how to plan... I did implemented oem12c in couple of clients and I did checked the consolidation Planner which works well, but we need to plan very well before taking decision.
