The most recent trend of providing training to new hires employees called On-boarding, on-boarding programs are a standard procedure to get new employees productive and integrated into the company culture as quickly as possible some companies provide pre-boarding activities which provides information on the company, its product lines, initial staff orientation, benefits information, and especially networking opportunities with new colleagues. It also may involve pairing the new employee with a sponsor to help them to integrate swiftly into the workforce as productive staff member.
Thank you for asking this interesting question. So far I know some of the company's use games that take the new employee through scenarios that help them learn the functions of each department of their newly chose company.Other's developed on-line training where a newly hired employee access the website through link and able to navigate screen by screen and learns about the new org ,management role, department and total integration. Company also provide a link to access all necessary forms to down load and complete on-line. All benefits to be enrolled within a given time. Most company uses a combination of on-line and off line sessions. I will say Bench-marking is important by identifying the best Industry practices.
Hope this provides some light.
Thanks,
