From my point of view, they are virtual mind control platforms, which can be used to sell your products and services as well. If it comes out of Capitalism, then it's always business, nothing else:)
Hey Amer,
True, that they are social media platforms. But they can very well be used for business as well.
For most industries, it is now quintessential to have a Facebook Page, a Twitter account, a Google+ account and a LinkedIn profile as a bare minimum. You don't necessarily need to spend on social media advertising, but having a social media presence across the popular platforms increases the brand/product/service/company visibility tremendously. It also aids in establishing a connect with the consumers and displaying your portfolio of services aptly to consumers. Think of them as Social Business platforms for your business, rather than Social Media. I would urge you to not discount them as merely social media that youngsters are latched on to. Companies have progressed leaps and bounds BECAUSE of social media in recent times, and it's a force to be reckoned with in times to come.
If I may be bold in assuming, by business media you refer to media platforms that help you conduct business better. From this, I can suggest the use of Alibaba.com or other such trading portals for approaching the sale of industrial goods, or even large-scale manufactured, localized goods. There are many other websites like LinkedIn which may even be domain-specific to cater to media needs of a particular business. The eventual aim of most websites/media is to help you connect with other persons and businesses of interest.
They exist to provide a service that fills in gaps in communication and fulfil the need of an intermediary to connect people and businesses. Of course, their prime objective is to earn a better profit for themselves by being better at their service offering and allowing your business to succeed. Business media charge their customers for premium services, and allow ads on their platform to make a substantial profit and keep their business in an improving curve. This is a PLUS for you as a customer and the business too.
Without the existence of these social business and business media platforms in general, we would still be sitting ducks waiting for competitors to shoot at us. Being in the run with them and trying to do something that puts your business ahead of them is the only way your business can stay current, competitive and successful.
Yes Facebook,Twitter, Linkedin (i have written most known) and now i Guess Bayt.com as everyone knows it ,these social media platforms where initially started for private networking as in this fast paced world you dont have time to personally meet your old friends or known people so its an easy way (just a click away) to see what they are upto.
Like many friends of mine have left country and they work in US,UK, Australia so if i need to get information on them I need to call them but if they are in social platforms i can see what they are upto.
Same ways business networks were formed through these media where companies created product, company pages and now there is easy access to products, services, companies, contacts.
so such existance has made business ,market easier to access.
I see that there are business media platforms. I believe that examples of these are online shopping, Internet banking, recrutement sites, and some government services are now available on the Internet in most countries. I believe that this trend will continue to proliferate to the furthest extent possible.
Today social media is playing an important role for busineeses also.Organisation are extensively promoting their products and services through it.
For example many top executives have accounts on Twitter through which they get to know about the customer views as customer can directly give their views about the offerings given by the organisations .
Linked in, Bayt etc are directly connecting the employers with the potential employees. In todays world as internet marketing is changing the rules of the game. Businesses are promoting their products ,helping the prospects knowing about the organisation in an better manner, getting insights so its a win win situation for both.
In todays enviornment social media has become a weapon for both .If utilised in an efficient and effective manner it can create a powerful image among the customers.
