What would you do if your manager reported your efforts under his name to the top managment?

When you accomplish a successful project or identify a new business channel and then your manager address it to himself for the top management to be appreciated/promoted and didn't mention your initiative at all , how can you take the risk and reserve your rights front of the top management ??

If a manager does that, this would mean they are wither lazy or don't have the know how to produce the work you were able to.
In my opinion never react or create a buzz about it.
if it is laziness you can show the manager's laziness to management through request and reminders and of course always copying management.
If the case was lack of knowledge, well you can come up with an initiative to show management what you know and definitely they will recognize that your boss lacks the knowledge.
you will be rewarded one way or another if your company is a good one.
If not, move to a company where your efforts would be appreciated.
I hope i gave you an idea.
Regards, Hiba

It is totally understandable how frustrated and anguished you must be feeling, since your superior is taking credit for your hard work, but you have to deal with the situation delicately.
First of all, going behind your superior’s back and complaining to his bosses is a bad idea since your boss is bound to find out sooner or later and when he does, in all probability he will make the situation even worse.
Moreover, the superiors might get the impression that you are not being a team player and want solo credit rather than sharing it with everyone.
As far as leaving the job is concerned, it is a rather extreme option that should only be considered after you have exhausted all other options.
Here are a few tricks you can try that might help with the situation so that you can stay at the job you love so much.
You should try to talk to the boss in order to find out why he has been doing this.
However, keep in mind that while doing so you should be calm and your tone should not be confrontational.
The best solution is to go through the back door and ask the boss for feedback on your ideas.
You can also ask him if what the superiors thought of the ideas that you had punched in.
This way the boss will get the idea that you expect to get acknowledgment for your efforts.
You must keep in mind that it is in your job description to work for the manager i.e., your boss.
So even if you are not getting direct credit for your hard work, you can always imply that you expect that the boss will keep in mind his input on the projects and will remember him whenever the time for a bonus or a promotion comes.
Another way to get credit for your work is to keep your ideas to yourself and only speak up when you are in a meeting or there are other people around who are listening to what you have to say.
This way your boss will not be able to pass your ideas as his own and even if he does so, a lot of people will know that he is taking credit for your hard work.
In the end, the manager will come off looking bad and sooner or later the upper management will find out the truth.
Hopefully these tips will help in tackling the problem you are facing at work.
Everthing can be talked over and solved in friendly manner , always in private , so hes not embrassed , only between you and boss.

Only one manager can do that whose dose not have conscience and is difficult to face him or inform your management about that becouse in all companies the manager is right So I advise you ; Always work by email even if you make calls meetings you must to send email also to relevant staff to confirm your request or what ever your job and cc your manager but don't forget to BCC the high management in your email After that they will know what you do and how do you work hard So remember always use email to be on right way

If your manager reports your effort as his/her, then this is intellectual poverty.
It shows that your manager is effortless and is not right person for right post.
But unfortunately, this happens in most of the top level companies.
Being human, we always tend to negation, instead, you need to learn positively from your mistake and don't need to share any such information unless it confirms that you will get the credit for it.
If you file the report about your manager to top management, it will increase the confrontation between you and your manager.
Try to act smartly, do not show any sign that you have known about these all, try to get recommendation from your manager by acting innocent.
In most of the case, they will further try to apply the same condition, but gradually you need to improve your connection with top management, when they believe you and got informed about the condition, they will rescue from that worst position.
This will be confidential as well as manager can’t fire you.
Even he/she does not know about it and your relationship will remain intact.
Finally, you always need to be cautious as such scenario evolves everyday in any office.

Learn from your mistake and don't share any information unless your sure your going to get credit for it, on the other hand you cant report your manager because then you will have conflicts with him try to be cautious the next time.

Back him up.
Your job will be so much secured.
He will have to fall back on to answer queries.
You are bound to grow with such managers and will soon overtake him, trust.
Make such people as weak as possible by doing their home work because your potentials can never remain hidden.
You will get noticed and your efforts will get recognized.

Unfortunately this situation is repeated in most of organizations where the boss steals his/her subordinates' ideas and takes them up for credit, it is not smart at all to face him/her with the truth, he/she even don’t like you tell them it is my idea, the traditional response will be directly and automatically, we are one team and I am representing the team to the top management; you will be the bad guy and don’t have a team spirit, which will affect your performance and at the end you will lose.
My advice is to let it go this time and if your boss is of this kind learn to put your ideas in writing so it is documented or in a formal meeting where there is MoM.
Good luck

So what? I expect that my manager will do that because I hired to do my job for him and his achievement reflects on the project acceptance successfully. It is the policy of teamwork building job.

I think this action is done by managers who don't have enough self confidence, If he isn't involved in each detail, it will be so obvious to the top management that it'snot his / her work.
