we should be good at both, I don't know where I am better among these two :)
Obviously, the best account people are capable of doing both. But the truth is that it is hard to do and it is human nature to gravitate to the one you do more easily or are better at.

Managing up or Managing down reflects the attitude prevailing in the organization, the starter strives for managing up while the older managing down as he is in vein without air.
I am sure we all agree about both , But we have to be honest with us meanwhile as its hard to know both or even if you know both , its harder to apply both in the physical land, but at least you have the knowledege and take the requierd steps to make it come ture.
both ways ... its very important for our own success... i use to only practice and believed managing down is enough but it took me2 extra year for my promotion there is where i changed my approach and it worked like a charm
i would really like to think i am good at both.
we have been taught to manage up and down and even sideways.
success needs good management skills and these are important.
Both the ways are essential ...but we have to balance them properly to be a good manager...
i think i am good at managing down, then i slowly start learning managing up right now at this level.but we should know to handle all level.
