If I encounter an employee causing ongoing issues, I would take a step-by-step approach to address the matter:

  1. Confront the Employee Directly
    • Private Conversation: I would first address the issue in a private, respectful conversation with the employee. This allows for open communication and gives the employee a chance to explain their side while understanding the impact of their behavior.
    • Set Clear Expectations: During this conversation, I would outline the specific issues and the expectations for behavior moving forward. My goal would be to resolve the situation quickly and maintain a positive working relationship.
  2. Involve HR if the Issue Persists
    • Escalate to HR: If the problem continues despite direct confrontation, I would involve HR to mediate the situation. HR can provide guidance, ensure fairness, and take appropriate actions to resolve the issue formally.
    • Document the Process: To ensure transparency and protect all parties involved, I would document each step of the process, from the initial conversation to the involvement of HR, if necessary.
