C++: "The C++ Programming Language" by Bjarne Stroustrup Publisher: Addison-Wesley ISBN: 0-201-88954-4 As Bjarner Stroustrup is the original designer and implementer of C++ you can't get any closer to the philosophie of C++ ;) Also recommended for advanced topics
