Feedback from my own performance provides its perspective and a starting point for the performance discussion.

Seek feedback from key co-workers.

Consider the degree of difficulty in assignments.

Review each objective independently.

Do not let reviews of one objective influence the review of another.

Focus on actual contributions and results achieved. This is a review of “accomplishments”, not of “potential.”

Performance is what we do. To judge performance, we need to assess the results we achieve by what we do and the efficiency with which we achieve these results. To do so, we need to have some standards and yardsticks against which performance is measured.  That is, performance should be evaluated against pre-set criteria.  Measurement of performance can be quantitative as well as qualitative. Performance does not relate just to individuals but to teams, departments, companies, and many others as well. We should be proactive in optimizing our performance by defining what we should do and the manner in which we should carry out what we do. Most of the time, performance evaluation is not a one-time event but rather a continuous process that aims at refining performance and achieving the best results at the least costs possible. The adage" plan your work, and work your plan" rings true.
