Best way to retain Brand Loyalty is best customer service, improve QA of the product /service which you offer, timely feedback from customers which will keep a good rapport between seller and buyer. 

Expand Brand Image make sure that competition is kept under check.

This way surely Brand loyality will be retained.

e.g : Dove has a very simple message...that your 'naturally beautiful' and you dont need enhancements...all their campaigns compliment the same message.

First I will invest in research to identify the reasons why my prime prospects are not behaving idealy.

depending on who the prime prospects are a customized campaign would be launched to tackle the (wrong perception of the brand or  introduce a solution or ....)

Like others have already mentioned, the only way to retain your brand loyalists to understand them properly. Know their demographics, psychographics and behavioral patterns. As a brand, live up to your promises by providing quality product and good customer service. See to it that you treat your  loyalists as people who have invested their emotions in your brand and not as cash cows bringing in more revenue.  Also, keep in mind that brand loyalty is developed over a lot time and you cant expect people to be true brand loyalists from day1.
