What is The Best for Web based Development, PHP or ASP?

As a Freelancer, Starup Advicer, and an OpenSource guy suggest PHP :)

ASP used to be quite popular some10years back but now, Its PHP.

There are a lot of opensource projects being developed as well as being maintain in PHP such as CMS systems like Wordpress, joomla drupal and a lot of other web based system.

There are also a lot of frameworks being maintain in php like CakePhp, Laravel,  Symfony, Zend etc...

 

So I will suggest PHP being the best.

It depends on what to be developed; ASP.Net is used for windows based applications.
PHP is used for web applications, and it is an open source.

There is not "Best" for web based development when it comes to server side code.
what even you can do with php you can do with .Net.
what matters is what's the scope of the project and what are the needs and how much time you got.
and when it comes to web based development , client side development has become more crucial with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript .
