Yes surely I will give you an example in India , Fiat was not making  a mark with their car models and then they launched Linea ( a Sedan) with a good design and then FIAT since then has been competitive in automotive market so a good design surely helps.  Now talking about advertising and branding campaign if its not properly done may be effected but would not do bad because end of the a advertisement or marketing strategy is not remembered because customer will finally approve a product and good design backed up with good quality could be winner may not100% hit as campaign was not as good as product but still will make places in some hearts for sure.

I might contradict to the first answer.

I currently for an IRAQi company based in dubai. Their business is only iraq based. So all works i do is only for iraq.

Had a campaign for iraq for electronic products. Trust me, i tried being creative and none of them where able to get the design. Had to just place two iraqi players and the TV next to them. This sold like hot cakes. So, design not necessarily have anything to do with the campaign. It has to be clear to the final recipient.

It sold, thats all that matters. Infact, i lost my creativity. Im looking around now. :P
