you can use soft starter at the begging of starting of the process

you make soft starter to safe and keep your motor in safe side

where you prevent motor from taking all current when it need high torque ,where the started current is6 from rated current, so you should decrease it ,to prevent motor from damge

despite inverter is used to control in speed of motor during the running of motor at any time of operation

The main dfference between them is the time of running according to use

The soft starter used in the begining of motor start to make it start safely and then disconnected

The inverter used for all time that motor on becouse it control motor speed

Inverter can change the frequency while the soft starter can't.
