'International Organization for Standardization' ie ISO would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), ISO founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, the short form of the name is always ISO.ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.

Today the ISO has grown to a confederation of delegates representing over150 countries and has published over16,500 international standards. They meet on a regular basis to further develop new and existing management standards.

Benefits of ISO Certification:

Each standard supports its own benefits within every industry, however the common benefits across the ISO certifications include: widened market potential, compliance to procurement tenders, improved efficiency and cost savings, higher level of customer service, and therefore satisfaction, and heightened staff moral and motivation. By having a recognized management standard it tells your customers that you are serious about their needs.

Processing way for gaining ISO Certification:

A client requests and completes an ISO9001 application via web, phone, or email to receive a no-cost, no-obligation quote from PRI Registrar. After reviewing the quote with one of our sales staff, the client accepts and signs the quotation and returns it to the PRI Registrar office. (contracts are typically accepted for a three year term.)An auditor will then be assigned, taking into consideration factors such as location, scope, and experience of client. The auditor will then contact the client to schedule the initial assessment audit.Thirty days prior to the audit, the auditor will forward a copy of the audit plan to the client. Two weeks prior to the audit, a member of the PRI Registrar staff will forward appropriate documentation to the client to print and make available to the auditor. The audit is held in accordance to the audit plan.Upon completion of the audit, the auditor generates an audit report identifying any non-conformances (NCR) to the ISO standard. The report and NCRs are entered into the PRI Registrar's online EQM system. The client works with the auditor to resolve any NCRs using the online EQM system. The audit documentation is then reviewed by an expert for approval. (assessments and re-assessments only.)Once the reviewer approves the closure of NCRs, the certificate of registration is issued and sent to the client. The auditor works with the client to set up subsequent surveillance audits to assure adherence to the ISO9001 standard.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.

A company seeking certification must document and implement effective quality-control or environmental-management processes that meet the ISO requirements. You can get help from an ISO consultancy service that will take you through the entire certification process, or obtain the guidelines from the International Organization for Standardization if you opt to do the work independently.

Once processes have been fully developed and internally tested, an independent, accredited third party completes an audit to ensure your system satisfies the ISO requirements. Even after receiving certification, companies are subject to re-audits to ensure problems or variances do not reoccur.

It is possible to do your own audit and declare that you are in compliance. Government agencies and customers are likely to have more confidence in the declaration if your internal auditor is certified by ANSI, still more confidence if the audit is by a third party, and the most confidence if the audit is by a third party certified by ANSI.

Dear

After clear definition of ISO and its system and certificates

I would like to add that ISO is not for product,...you should not put the logo on product

you have a quality management system, which means that you have quality in all processes (not only product)
