Arrogance can spoil your Sales and Marketing Tactics, how many would agree with this point?

Once in Sales call due to my VP - Marketing we were shown door without a order, because of his sheer arrogancy. So do you believe it can hamper your chances of winning orders?

I completely agree with the above mentioned statement. From my personal experience working as Sales Assistant for top companies over the years made me learn that customers are the 'friends' of an organisation who's rendering products and services and therefore should be approached and addressed with politeness and professionalism. 'Exhibiting good product knowledge' and 'patiently listening to and understanding customer needs' are essential facets to becoming a Sales Superstar. Hence, 'arrogancy' can't be a productive Sales & Marketing tactic. Rather it's an obvious path to self-destruction because without customers not buying an organisations' products or registering for their service can be declared absolutely useless within a very short time.

Well, in sales arrogance is something which is never desired.  Because then we pass a wrong signal to our clients. It indicates that we are trying to impose our product rather than sell it.

But aggression is something which can be beneficial in a sales call. When I say aggression, it comes from sheer knowledge of your product and the market but arrogance comes from over confidence. But one has to be very careful about mixing aggression with precision. Overdoing something can still spoil the call.

Therefore, I do not vote for arrogance but aggression is definitely required. One should not just listen and accept everything what a client says, a sales person has to have his/her own views to put forward.

I agree, arrogance is never a way to get what you want, but very often used by persons, it never works, yes, I have seen it work at times and at the moment somebody arrogantly lays up his will  but afterwards people change there mind and it bounces back twice as hard.

Well, it can be a general rule, but there are a lot of exceptions, like in private life. Arrogance can be very useful tool sometimes, but if it is dosed in an adequate manner.

What i mean is, a lot of times happen to me or my colleagues, that during negotiations or deal making, dosed arrogance has helped me achieve my goals. During negotiations, when it reaches boiling point, arrogance adds up on the attitude which is recognized by other side. Arrogance can be used as a tactical shield / Kevlar during deal making or negotiation.

However, I underline once more, it must be dosed.
