Mostly, it is not advisable to stay in continuous discussion more than 1-2 hours. If the discussion is long and still need to be continued; there must be a break in the middle for half and hour to refresh.
The long meeting if properly arranged there will be an agenda with clear topics for the discussion; in such case it will be easy to estimate the time required for the meeting and arrange for the breaks and refreshments.
