Can we have real life examples of how did you help new team members who had a tough time adjusting ,one feels an outsider to a group he just joined?

Do many team meetings, Proper Introduction , team building exercises in some days a new member will feel comfortable and not left out.

I ensure a team member who joins my team, gets an opportunity to spend time with most of my office workers through induction and make them know each other. I suggest them to join for lunch or breaks with different teams so that informal relationship builds between them.....

More they know each other, better in building the teams......

This is apart from formal programs by HR.......

I helped who came to fill my position in the company to understand everything I had done with realizing the importance of timing and making sure everything is in order and accurate. I spent more than2 weeks explaining to him the same points,but he was not a hard worker.

I think it is not my concern to make people adjust with the team, but my responsibility to welcome them and help them so they can do their jobs properly.

I hepled an expat to blend with the local workforce by designing and implementing training sessions run by the expat. I made sure that the trainign sessions worked as a team building activity. I integrated some social activities during the training program. Both parties came out from the training with a stronger personal bondings with each other.

I usually provide a honeymoon period of approx2-3 weeks time to a new joinee and test him/her in different capacity to guage what are the strength and weakness of the person. Then have a long conversion on what is objective/aspirations with the company and the job profile and begin the process of delegation of responsibilites.

 

This help me keep a balance and not miss out my commitments and the new joinee adjust and work/interact with the entire team.
