1- Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS),  is an analog mobile cell phone : First generation.

2- Global System for Mobile communications (GSM): is a digital standatrd mobile cell phone: Second generation.

3- General Packet Radio Service (GPRS):  is a packet oriented mobile data service on the2G and3G , It is often referred as2.5G (2,5 generation).

4-Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS): is one of phone mobile technology : Third generation.

5- Long Term Evolution (LTE): is initially considered a third generation standard (3.9G), as close to4G. 

6- Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A): is an evolution of the3GPP LTE defined by its release from10, Fourth generation.

AMPS:1G, GSM:2G, GPRS:2.5 G, UMTS:3G, HSPA:3.5G, LTE:3.9G, LTE-A:4G

AMPS =>1G

GSM and GPRS =>2G, but GPRS sometimes referred as2.5G

UMTS =>3G

LTE => initially3G when released, but then considered as a stand alone4G standard.

LTE-A =>4G

AMPS IS THE FIRST GENERATION. Gsm is the second generation.GPRS is the 2.5/2.75 generation. Umts is the 3rd generation. Lte is the 4th generation and lte-a is the 5th generation
