why company owners looking for managers who are like themselves ,business oriented, which mean they shed/delegates their responsibility to their own like person instead of finding a responsible person with combination of skills as it's not about todays success but emerging as multinational with survival for next generations like shell,exxon, bechtel
It is part of risk mitigation plan for key company positions which impact functioning.
Delegation has to be done to develop team members to take up higher roles, by providing right guidance, training and empowerment to do the delegated activity. This motivates team members as this provides opportunities for them to learn more than the routine activities.
But, giving a simple routine tasks to team member is not delegation.
By delegating, responsibility to execute the task may be with the team members, but manager is accountable for the result. This will not absolve him from his responsibilities to this task.
I think that multinationals and successful companies don't suffer from the problem you are describing.
At the end of the days owners are definatley seeking profitable competitive businesses. If that is not achieved they willl realize thier mistake and correct it.

The owners have the power of capital. Some of them have experience in business and others do not. Mainly the owner seeks for no headeche business or deligate the least bother business to the project managers.
The case is complicated when the experienced owners do not show interest to their business, they look for wealth growth only, even they prefere to play in the stock market to blow up the wealth with minimum effort execution.
On the other hand the right situation that the owner should deligate the technical responsibilities to the PMO and follow up his business run perfectly without conflicts or objections from clients.

I don't think that a company which is oriented at results really needs managers who looks like to owners because best results many times arrive because of new idea or facing new reality and of course new challange
The main reason is to make sure that their vision is driven with passion no matter the secumstances. If one believes in the vision of the company, that person not only work for the pay check but focuses in making that particular company the best in the busness, thereby making proffit because of the good service offered.
