Is there a way to link MS Excel and AutoCAD so that when something (a text or length) is changed in Excel, it is updated in the drawing automatically?

Of course there is. you need to activate the data base link between autoCAD and the software you need (MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, etc.) the make an atribute in your drawing as part of block then insert it. once you run the link it will pull the data from the related sheet in the linked data base.
