A. CMOS - Because it is a kind of ROM. In a normal conndition it is not writable. It comes with the BIOS program written in it. Now a days CMOS chips are flash ROM, i.e., EEPROM. It needs higher voltage to enable writing in it.

On other hand Boot Sector is a part of a disk and writable. Floppy disk is a read write storage which is capable of carrying viruses. Program files are prime target of viruses.

The answer is CMOS because a virus can't hide in CMOS Memory although it can only write or corrupt CMOS changeable data.

The CMOS memory used for system information (and backed up by battery power) is not "addressable," and requires Input/Output ("I/O") instructions to be usable. Data stored there are not loaded from there and executed, so virus code written to CMOS memory would still need to infect an executable program in order to load and execute whatever it wrote. A virus could use CMOS memory to store part of its code, and some tamper with the CMOS Setup's values. However, executable code stored there must first be first moved to DOS memory in order to be executed. Therefore, a virus can NOT spread from, or be hidden in CMOS memory.

Dear your asking three different questions in a one go,

Anyhow,Whenever you see that computers performance is slow or acting weird then it may effect by the virus, not necessarily but it may have other problem that you would suspect its a virus. These are things you many find when computer is effect by the virus.

1)The Performance of the computer will be slow.

2)its very hard to install any application.

3)obstruct your add and remove program.

4)multiply by itself and occupy your disk/HDD space,

5)stop booting process.

6)effect your boot sector.

7)computer will act very strange.

8)if anti-virus not install it may spread through Floppy/HDD2/CD/DVD DISC/USB/TAPE DISC/INTERNET.

Virus will never effect ROM/RAM/CMOS/PERIPHERALS CONNECT TO COMPUTER.

Note it May enter in the ram but when computer is switch of virus will be disappear

Thanks,

Regards,

Ahmed.

All people already answer CMOS. Now no known viruses can infect it but who knows on the future so many geeks out there who will try the impossible just to test their talent.

But for me Floppy Disk would be the best answer.

1. Simply because who the hell on earth uses Floppy Disk now a days?

2. How can you infect that does not exist now a days and now one uses?

3. If ever someone uses it now a day, when you already know you have virus on your Computer would you even try inserting your Floppy Disk on it?

PS. Don’t get mad on me. Just a thought that came on my mind :)

you can make restart and entry agian by safemode and go to C:// partetion and you will see the virus in system32
