well, employers are not afraid to employ older job seekers, but the problem is that most older job seekers have many years of experience and are usually more qualified and need a higher pay than younger job applicants.
unless it is a job that requires physical strength where younger is usually better.
Older workers must use their maturity as a leverage when selling theis skills to employers. One of the attributes of being an older workers is that you have been around the corporate world to witness its high and low - what best practises are out there and what to avoid. It is a matter of knowing how to promote those skills, link them to the employer's mission and how they can be of value. There is no price on wisdom and that is something the younger generation may be lacking...as well as patience and phased reward.
Employment Must be free from all sort of Discrimination like Age,culture
Gender, location,Religion etc. Now a days Many Companies who claims them self to be an
Equal oppurtunity Employer are also not free from this Kind of Negative practices. I
think Old people must Also be given equal oppurtunity in terms of employment because
they are experienced and Knowledgeble they could be a Good Mentor or a
Coach.Practically it is been noticed that Old people are more cautious about their
work then young people.Every organization has certain openings at some levels where
they can allocate or appoint old people but employers on other hand not only hurting
the sentiments of these people but also creating Barrier for the growth of their Own
oragnization by not appointing a Right person at Right place.
It is important to consider the characteristics of the person regardless of age. Often, older employees may bring a lot of experience and useful insights. As long as age does not prevent the employee from doing the their job at the required level and they fit into the working environment, age should not be an issue.
I will ask them to contront their feer and define its root cause. If they do, they will realize that they are missing good opportunities. I will ask them to check the age of the selected teams running most of the fortuinate500 companies.
As employers are just humans like the job seekers (whether old or young), they should never discriminate anyone due to the age factor. Age is not in anyone's hands which can be controlled through any methods. Therefore, discriminating anyone on this ground shows that such persons are not having good decision making skills.
Instead, after testing the worker, if he is found to be unfit, then the employers can decide not to employ them. This is why there is a probation period. Quick learners at any age should be welcomed with open arms, as there is no point in employing someone who is younger (age-wise), but is inefficient and careless.
The point is not to lose good people due to factors which are out of human control (such as age, gender, culture, caste, religion, creed, colour, nationality). You cannot change your parents or the blood that runs in your body. This is who you are.
Just like that, ageing is a fact which everyone goes through in life, if you are born and are alive till old age. Therefore, saying that old people cannot do jobs efficiently is unfair. Of course, if they prove to be unfit, it is alright to keep them away. But no one should turn down a C.V. due to age factor.
I am against this idea because the goodness in them and the experience that they have a much better from academic degrees because unfortunately has become many states grant academic degrees for people without the knowledge the elderly in the foreground as advisers in order to train young people to maintain a scientific level decent .
Employers are not afraid of hiring old age employees; it’s basically a position criterion which was decided. Let suppose, we have an opening of fresh candidate or mid level position with2-3 years of experience at such position how can an employ opt for such senior profile? And don’t you think filling the position with senior profile will deprive the youngster of their right? Now, when we do hire divisional head position so we never consider fresher or mid level candidate, we always go for senior age not a retired one for such position.
It’s better to find the best candidates for a position so that justice will be made with division, employer and with the candidate also. If we need to fill the position due to certain social pressure or a senior person is needy and want to support the family then do offer them any supportive role other than the core job.
The focus while employing resources is to have a match done between the job requirements and the skillsets and interest displayed by the candidates who have applied to these roles. Age is no bar for jobs, however it is the job interest which is displayed by the candidates which is of vital importance to the roles being recruited for
Depends on the position being hired for; fresh candidate is not always preferable than the experienced one.
