1. Obviously a color scanner would be a good idea to scan photography. Plus you also the option to scan it in B&W and Gray Scale with the color scanner.

 

2. OCR is a method to recognize the writing in picture files (Scanned files) and convert it into editable text.

 

3. OCR Software is the one that provides the conversion facility of Photo (Scanned Document) to Text.

 

4. You hold the hand-held scanners in your hand and move it across the image / document that you want to scan. While on a flat-bed scanner you just lay the document / picture and let its scanning head do all the moving.

 

5. A high resolution flatbed scanner would be the best option.
