How to increase the virtual RAM ?

Sometimes when the computer informs you that it is short of memory cpacity increasing the virtual memory helps. How does that work ?

In Windows You can do that by Increasing the virtiual memory under Performance option , in other Operating systems under *nix based Systems you can do that by increasing spacity of swap partation.

A simple look at The Virtual Memory: Virtual memory is hard disk space that is used to emulate RAM.

How to Increase Virtual RAM:

R-Click on Computer>Properties>Advanced system settings>Advanced TAB>Performance Settings>Advanced TAB>Change.

 

Uncheck Box Automatically paging file size for all drives, click on C: System, click on Custom size, set the size and click OK.

Go to system property, virtual opition assign and increase paging size (more1.5 of RAM) and take restart.

in windows7 go to start button then write in search box [ virtual memmory ] and you will have the answer and that is :

 

right click computer icon in desktop then choose property

  1. In the left pane, click Advanced system settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  2. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

  3. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, click Change.

  4. Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box.

  5. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

  6. Click Custom size, type a new size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK.

Right click of MY COMPUTER and select 'properties' after selcet from there 'advanced system setting' then we  will get a 'System Properties' box, from there select 'advanced' after click 'setting' of perfomance then we will get 'performance option' box, from that box select advance in there we can change virtual memmory

Hi,

You can increase the virtual memory from the performance options , you have to choose virtual memory then click change to increase the page file , so with virtual memory the computer can use the hard disk space as RAM .
