In Cat5,2 pairs are used to send and receive data- one pair1-2 for transmission and other pair3-6 for receiving.
lets say out of4 pairs, there are only2 pairs for transmission and reception.
picture do worth a thousand words and here we can see it
Two Pairs are used to Transmit and Receive the data in CAT5 Cables.
on one end pin1-2 are sender and3-6 are receiver, but the difference is in other end in straight and cross over cable , on other end -->
in straight cable: pin1-2 is receiver and3-6 is sender
in cross over cable: pin1-2 is sender and3-6 is receiver
it is clear from above fact that we can't use straight cable for similiar devices as sending and receiving pins are same on both ends.
