Negative keywords can help you reach the most interested customers, reduce your costs, and increase your return on investment (ROI). When you add terms as negative keywords (available for "Search Network only," "Search Network with Display Select," and "Search & Display Networks" campaigns) or as keyword exclusions (for "Display Network only" campaigns), your ad won't show to people searching for those terms or visiting sites that contain those terms.

Use of negative is very essential to minimize wasted spend, when the keyword matches are phrase or broad.I ran a weekly (sometime more frequently when the volume is higher) "search query report", and add in negatives according to the keywords in the report

It is important to add negative keywords in your account. Adding negative keywords ensures that your ad does not show up for non-relevant audience. Run a search query report every week and add the relevant keywords in your account and negative keywords to ensuring that yourdo not spend on irrelevant terms.
