Is it better to use .htc files to support older IE browsers with CSS3 attributes such as rounded corners? or is Modernizr better?

Thanks to Bayt.com, I've recently learned about .htc files while researching CSS3 attributes support on Older IE browsers and intend to use them in my future work , and Having used Modernizr before I wonder which is better to use for what situations?

.htc files there maybe performance issue if you are using extensivly otherwise as per my knowladge no issue 

Regarding modernizr i didnt get you , Modernizr only enable to check features available or not 

 

I prefer to degrade gracefully in older browser so round corners for only supportted browser but offcourse its totally depend on your requirement
