In short & crisp, in addition to Renae Richardson, the major fundamental skills that determines the success of a good leader is directly propotionate to how good the leader is in1) Following the Cycle of Coaching, Monitoring/Reviewing/Correcting & Motivating. Being a MENTOR more than a boss.2) Team Building: His/her acumen in selecting the right people for the right job and building a cohesive team.3) Epiphany: Ability to make each individual member REALIZE/EMPATHISE what each of their goals/objectives are so that each team member becomes self driven and accountable. The main ingredients of this skill is the vision, effective communication, transparency that the leader possesses as an interface between the management and his team.4) Effective delegation beyond knowing the weaknesses and strengths of each of his team members.5) Charming charisma of the leader along with the ability to set his/her own higher goals/objectives and benchmarks
Formal knowledge along with smartness & Experienced Skills becomes a deadly combination !
This is how the leader leads his team from the front.

There is no specific skills to be a good leader. The only thing that will lead you to leadership, is being yourself, your true self. Trying to create an opportunity from every problem... being optimistic and positive in negative situations. Also, having a knack of bringing out the best in others... will lead you to become a good leader!

A successful leader knows how to communicate. A successful leaders know how to listen. The leader knows how to delegate. A good leader, leads by example. He or she would never put someone in a position to do a task that he or she would not commit to doing him or herself.
A successful leader has a vision and knows how to share that vision and empowers others.
A successful leader is a growth minded and is eager and ready to learn. He or she always seeks way to progress self and invest in the development of his or her employees. A successful leader isn't afraid of change. A brilliant leader knows when to employ a specific leadership style. There is a time for authoritative leadership, democratic leadership, laisez faire leadership, servant-based leadership etc...
