In children you may use a hip spiker which is wet plaster bandages wraped around the tummy but not too tight and proceeds down to the limbs i.e. both legs upto the ankle on the fractured leg and upto the knee joint on the contralateral leg this should be left for4 weeks.

In adults you may immobilise the fractured leg with a splint which has hip joint to facilitate sitting and little movement and soe anaelgesics for pain, the splint should be worn for6-7 weeks
