Less travelled roads are less attractive to others but may suit you fine. If  employer brand and money is not that important , you just want to learn the job it is better to apply for small firms. People know you by your work. As you gain experiance you can apply for a big branded employer. I started my carrer working for a nameless bussiness associate of a bank . I now work in WIPRO an Indian multinational IT co.
