Visual Foxpro is also one of the best database product specially on desktop database application designing but Microsoft is not promoting it. What do you think. what could be the reasons behind this?
MS want to promote VB thats why not promoting VFP.
More are more businesses are moving away from desk top/ thick client application, and starting to move everything seamlessly available on thin client/cloud. Again, the deployment is another issue when it comes to thick client, considering all client systems need individual installs unless of course the application is available in cloud and and can be deployed on demand (SaaS).
I think basic reason is Object Oriented programing, even people are having huge app designed in vb.net ....trying to migrate them into C# - this is the platform where you have more feature of object orient programming and on the other hand someone is coming from java background can start working in c# because of the syntax similarities- for example importing a namespace is same in java as in c#.
So the bottom line is unified platform for all programmer- this is what I was thinking.....
