Press the Winduows+R key. That is press the Windows key and while it is still pressed press the R key.

You shall see the Run prompt. Type explorer and click Run or press Enter. This should launch the file explorer. If it does not launch the file explorer then you need to get it shown at the nearest service center as it could be because of either an OS corruption or computer virus infection.

If you are able to see the windows file explorer then you can locate your program and try to launch it from there. Again if does not launch then you need to visit the service center.

Most probably your program is already running, check the Task Manager and kill the process if it is already running and then run again.

The office might be installed incorrectly, try to search for it in the Add/remove programs and try reinstalling it once again

THIS IS A VERY COMMON ERROR.

But, unfortunately a few people know the workaround.

The common solution is to restart windows OS, or to refresh your current windows session.

(REASON)-> Some windows operating systems have a bad installation which results in the main service for the Graphical User Interface, GUI, "EXPLORER.EXE", does not close the application process correctly, and keeps it running in the background; and as a byproduct of this malfunction the process "EXEPROR.EXE" does not let the application (Program) to restart again because you cannot have more than one ".EXE" file running at the same time; hence trying to double clicking on the application icon again will generate another corrupt (Orphan) process ID of that application.

Check the link below for more information or taking free courses on how to solve such a problem.

Otherwise, just kindly read and execute the following instructions so you can start the application

1- Press Ctl+Shift+Esc to pop the TASK MANAGER.

2- Look for the executable file of the application that is acting like so

3- Right click on the application process name and choose "END PROCESS".

4- START the application again.

Enjoy….

Alternative solution:

Restart the "EXPLORER.EXE" process by doing the following:

1- Press Ctl+Shift+Esc to pop the TASK MANAGER.

2- Look for the executable file "EXPLORER.EXE".

3- Right click on the "EXPLORER.EXE" process name and choose "END PROCESS". (All gone - do not worry)

4- on TASK MANAGER File menu, Click "START NEW TASK"

5- Type "EXPLORER.EXE" in the text field, & Walla... you have a new windows clean session without logging off.

Enjoy....

Good Luck & THUBMS UP to you all.

It seems that your computer is under virus attack (critical viruses such as torgans).

To get rid of these viruses just read this step by step anti torgans and anti Malware guide:

www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-my-security-engine

I believe you will love this guide book. I am using this4 step anti virus guide for4 years. (just start reading from the line: Automated Removal Instructions for My Security Engine using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware)

Basically this guide is showing how to get rid of a malware using a fake anti virus tool named: My Security Engine, however this guide is helpful in removing almost every type of big and annoying viruss which make your computer to function improperly.

In addition, install ccleaner and run its registry cleaner tool every week. it will solve all the missing registry file issues, and in result you will get a healthy and active computer.

Hellow... you mean.. you have the program shortcuts in the start menu... but when you click the start menu the program does not start....right? and there is no error message too.... right?

well i think that the original program for the shortcuts in the start menu have been moved to another location.... so.... the best thing to do is right click on the program in the start menu then click "find file location"  maybe then there will be an error message or you will be taken into a blank folder.....

if you have moved the original program to a new position find the new folder and add a shortcut from its .exe file to the start menu... this will solve your problem.... i think someone has deleted your program files in the program files folder.. but not your wondows files ofcourse since windows seems to be working fine....I hope this helps sir.. if you want to comment please feel welcome to point out my mistake.

I see some realy nice answers.

Great going guys!

However, there could be another possibility, viz. The program is being prevented from executing,

i.e. Data Execution Prevention.

To solve DEP issue, go to " Control Panel \\ System and Security \\ System ".

In the left column you can observe " Advance System Settings "  *click*

Go to " Advanced " tab, Performance box Settings *click*

Go to " Data Execution Prevention " tab.

Choose the second radio button " Turn On DEP for all except those I select ".

Now " Add... " your program executable from the Program Files or wherever it has been installed, to this list.

And " Apply " " OK " " OK ".

In some cases, like games, this kind of issue is very common.
