I think I am a mix of both. I like to talk to my students and listen to them as well but when the situation requires to be tough, then i have to be tough but of course in a tough but understanding way. I teach kids as well as adults who may be older than me sometimes so i have to gain their respect and prove myself worthy first so when i become tough at a certain situation they would understand. And gaining their respect comes by doing your job properly and understanding their needs and personality.

The greatest accolade that I've received was when I overheard a student saying to another: "go and ask Mr Scott, he is firm but fair". I think that is how I would like to be remembered!
