As Ahmed says, motivation and encouragement are so important and also I think that  the key in many cases is FUN, fun by convention is enjoyable, couple fun with INTERESTING and you are most of the way there. Dr Suess (Cat in the Hat) and Rohl Dahl (the BFG) for fun and interest, respectively are just two examples of "good" reading for young children. In a nutshell you should keep them amused and keep them interested!

I feel that making the teaching learning process simple is a big task. Interest should be created by adding some fun factor in the class.

I teach kids at Berlitz and I believe you can make them love the English language by teaching them through something that catches their attention and they love it...You can use songs, games, activities, etc... and also you have to use motivating language repeatedly...Another thing, always pay attention to them coz sometimes they try to say a new word or something to get an extra pat on the back... by the way, teens and adults love to learn the same way...this is the key to teaching...you gotta have passion and if they feel it they'll love u and the language
