I ask them to put themselves in the place of the other person (figuratively speaking), and try to imagine their thoughts and feelings. Get them to try and see the other person's viewpoint which will help in their understanding of that person. Encourage them to explain their own points of view to the other person in a calm and non-confrontational way. Look for areas of "common ground" between them as individuals or as a group. Promote team bonding activities. Important for you as a teacher to show no favouritism and to be completely evenhanded.
