Dear Vedika, I assume that you did majors with human resources and now to bra competent HR professional I must share some insight and practical experience which I did and faced.
· Do learn the core functioning of the department where you are doing job
· Do grab the details of in and out of system and details about the key process owner.
· Do regular chat with technical heads and try to learn their expectations from HR.
· Either you are in recruitment or in performance management, bring practical solution via your service to organizations.
· Enhance your soft skills which help you to acquire technical side of the business.
· If possible do learn about key documents or procedures which help you in each function of HR.
· Last but not the least, put your heart in your work and you’ll never work for a day.
Being a business partner you must learn the art of business and do take some responsibility on your shoulder, try not to be HR operation guy be strategic HR professionals through your working.
